Notes

1. Cora was born in Neosho, Kansas on June 10, 1918. She lost her mother, Minnie Alice Edwards (nee Smith) at the age of 11 & along with some of her youngest siblings, was sent to live in an orphanage. Her father Asbey Neal Edwards died a year later of a broken heart. She spent her teenage years in the foster homes of two families, the “Ricks” family & the “Hicks” family. One working her “like a man”, the other “sheltering her from the storm”. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1936. She met & married the love of her life, James H. Cameron, Sr. in Springfield, Missouri. They moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1955 with their “blended family”, where they lived, until the passing of her beloved James in 1968. Being the independent woman she was, she continued to live by herself in Mesa until January of 2006. She then moved to Texas, at the age of 88, to spend her final years with her beloved family. Cora was beautiful, inside and out, and brightened our world with her sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile. She was a loving mother & grandmother. She loved God, her family & friends. She also loved dancing, playing cards, bingo, country music, cooking & candy. Cora was fiercely independent & will always serve as a role model for her daughters & granddaughters. Showing us how a woman can be both strong and kind. Through all of the heartbreaks she endured throughout her life, from losing her parents at such a young age and being placed in an orphanage, to the heartbreak of losing a precious child, she never lost her faith. Her strength still amazes us all. She had a great sense of humor, a very strong work ethic and truly loved life. She was a wonderful cook, and homemaker. We can still smell the fragrance of a fresh homemade apple pie, after coming in from play on a cold winter day. She always made her home warm and welcoming, and all those around her comfortable and happy with her bright humor and sense of fun. Her house was always spotless, even when she held an outside job & had a house full of kids & more times than not, other relatives who had come across hard times. http://www.cyfairfunerals.com/obituary/2011-10-24/cora-cameron; [Note Record]
